Longdean recieves International School Award

The assessor's evaluation report states:

'Your school is hereby accredited from 1 September 2022 to 31 August 2025.

It is clear to see that Longdean School continues to build and embed a real global learning ethos which is reflected in and informing long-term planning and policy. There is evidence that a whole school approach is being developed through the embedding of outcomes / an international focus across the curriculum and in the teaching and learning experience for all. This is supported by a range of long-standing international initiatives, participation in funded programmes such as Erasmus+ and their former role as a Global Learning Programme Expert Centre. The school has well established links with the Pakistan and Ghana which are being used as an effective vehicle with which to enable increased awareness of ways of life, cultures and experiences in the world.

We hope that the scope of your excellent international activities will continue to develop and benefit the school community; your support, commitment, creativity and innovative international work is greatly appreciated.'

Martin Macdonald of Longdean School added:

We have a broad range of overseas links, visits and programmes (World Challenge) and are involved in curriculum projects that raise international learning, the decolonisation of the curriculum, anti-racism work and diversity to the front of many subjects. Our established links with Ghana specifically have led to a new senior high school being built, an IT centre and many reciprocal visits (with more computers and books being delivered and another visit this summer planned). Very few schools in the country have had the award since 2010 and it is a credit to our school community and central to the ethos of our school.
