Key Stage 4

During this time students participate in two hours of PE a week. As a result of the students' increased maturity, combined with the fact that they have experienced a wide range of opportunities during Key Stage 3, we believe that students can now make more informed choices and start to specialise in their preferred activity areas. As a result we allow students to opt into a range of activity blocks.

The range of PE related qualifications on offer at Longdean School is varied and caters for all learners regardless of academic ability. BTEC and GCSE PE allow students to gain recognition for their sporting achievements as well as giving them the opportunity to study the influences sports have on the larger community and basic human physiology.

In addition to these courses students will also be given the opportunity to complete Sports Leaders awards which develops sports leadership skills where students can show their knowledge and understanding through practical demonstrations rather than written work.

Longdean students consistently achieve well above national averages within GCSE PE and BTEC Sport.
