Connecting Global Learning Communities

We passionately believe that it is very valuable to share and exchange teaching and learning experiences among our global learning communities as educators and to provide a platform for our young citizens to explore national and international learning opportunities.

During February half term three teachers from Longdean, Miss F. Duncan, Mrs C. Keen and Mr S. Rathore, went on a Teacher International Professional Development trip to Singapore. The visit enabled them to see how ICT could be used to enhance teaching and learning across the curriculum, and across an age and ability range. They were able to observe ICT skills being taught and utilised in other subject areas. Most schools were developing expertise of a particular technology within each subject area. Schools had an established sharing system, whereby the expertise could be shared within the school and with other schools in the area.

We are in the process of developing further links to international schools and hope to have future exchange programmes and also video conferences in the near future. It would allow us to share teaching and learning experiences among young citizens and would also be an excellent opportunity to adopt similar effective strategies in a learning environment, especially extended learning beyond the classroom.
