Geography is a popular option at GCSE. We follow the OCR
syllabus A, which has 4 main themes:
i) Rivers, Coasts and Tectonics
ii) Population, Settlement and Migration
iii) Economic Activities
iv) Global Issues
These themes are assessed by two written exams worth 75%
of the final grade. Coursework makes up the remaining
25% and takes the form of an investigation based on
fieldwork undertaken on the Year 10 trip to the River
Chess at Rickmansworth. In the summer 2006 exams, 63% of
students achieved grades A*-C
